Publication of the DVD-book: Cartoonists for Millennium Development Goals

NY08 053The AECID and the FGUA decided to make a DVD-book where there are brief biographic notes of the authors included, as well as an institutional introduction by the President of Government, and by the presidents of the two sponsoring institutions of this project.

The essential part of this DVD is composed of the interviews with the authors, their creative process through the creation of their cartoons about the first goal of the Millennium Goals, which proposes “to eradicate poverty and hunger”, and more specifically:

  • To halve between 1990 and 2015 the percentage of people whose income is less than a dollar a day.
  • To halve between 1990 and 2015 the percentage of people who suffer from hunger.

The aim of each and every one of these videos of the different cartoonists was to show the different views of each cartoonists about this goal, and to capture in a mere two minutes their work atmosphere and how they elaborate their work, which later would be exhibited in New York for the United Nations General Assembly of September, 24th.

This DVD-book was presented last September 24th at 6 p.m. in the main quarters of the Institute Cervantes in New York.

Each section includes a commentary of the author in which they talk about why they did that cartoon, as well as the role they think Graphic Humour may play in the eradication of hunger and poverty.
